Code of Conduct

RULES OF CONDUCT

Washington Union Station is governed by a Code of Conduct designed to ensure a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all visitors, employees, tenants, and patrons. These rules apply to all areas of Washington Union Station, including transit platforms, retail spaces, food courts, public walkways, and the exterior area surrounding the property.

By entering this property, you agree to abide by the following rules:

Prohibited Activities:
Use of Property: No camping or sleeping in, or lying on public areas, including
walkways, or blocking public areas.
Unauthorized Solicitation or Sales: No panhandling, vending, or distributing
promotional materials or placing signs on the property.
Disruptive Behavior: No loud, abusive, obscene, offensive or discriminatory language
or conduct.
Public Intoxication or Substance Use: No alcohol (outside of designated areas), illegal
drugs, or smoking/vaping on the property.
Unsafe Conduct: No fighting, threatening behavior, large, congregated groups, or
unauthorized possession or any use of weapons (including replicas).
Restricted Access Violations: No entry into staff-only, prohibited, locked or barricaded
areas.
Unattended Items: Personal bags and belongings must remain with you at all times.
Photography/Videography: Commercial filming and photographing or drone use
requires prior written approval from the property management.
Dress Code: Shirt and shoes are required at all times when on the property.
Facial coverings: Facial coverings that conceal a visitor’s identify are prohibited.
Animal Control: Household pets only and all pets must be leashed or in carrying crates
while on the property and attended to at all times; service animals are welcome.
Exiting the Property: All patrons must promptly exit the property at posted closing
times or when otherwise instructed by management, security or policing authorities.
Compliance with Laws and Directions: All local, state, and federal laws must be
followed. All patrons are required to follow the guidance of management, security or
policing authorities when directed.

Youth Access Policy:
To maintain a safe and orderly environment so that all visitors, employees, tenants, and patrons may enjoy the property, access to individuals under 18 years of age may be restricted at the sole discretion of Washington Union Station management, security or policing authorities, in response to safety concerns or emergency situations. When such a restriction is imposed, the following exceptions shall apply to individuals under the age of 18 who need to access Washington Union Station:

(a) The minor is accompanied by a parent (defined to include a legal guardian, a person
who stands in loco parentis, or a person to whom legal custody has been given by court
order);
(b) The minor is a ticketed Amtrak, MARC, or VRE passenger holding a valid ticket; or
(c) The minor has a part-time employment in the station and their employer requires the
minor to work during periods when access for minors has been restricted.

Enforcement
Washington Union Station management, staff, security personnel and policing authorities are authorized to enforce this Code of Conduct. Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in removal from the property, temporary or permanent bans from the property, or referral to law enforcement.
