Bike and Roll Washington DC Opens Third DC Metro Location

Washington, DC: Bike and Roll Washington DC announces the opening of their third DC Metro location within the new Bikestation at Union Station. For seven years, Bike and Roll Washington DC has led professionally guided bicycle tours and rentals of bikes, strollers, wheelchairs and mobility scooters from the Downtown DC location at the Old Post Office Pavilion. A second location offering rentals opened in Old Town Alexandria, VA in March of this year. In the newest location, in addition to bike rentals and tours, a full service repair shop as well as retail items will be available.

Bicycle rentals include Trek comfort bikes, performance bikes, road bikes and tandem bikes. Children’s bikes and accessories such as tandem trailers and burleys are also offered. All bike rentals include a helmet, U-lock, bike rack, flat kit and city map. Ride one way! You may rent a bike from Union Station and drop off at the DC Downtown location at the Old Post Office Pavilion or the location in Old Town Alexandria for a small fee. Rentals are available in increments of 2-hours, 4-hours, for a full day or for 24-hours. Extended rentals may also be arranged.

Beginning in spring 2010, the popular Capital Sites tour will be offered from the Union Station location. Tours will include a guide, bike rental, helmet, water and a snack. The three hour guided tour provides an overview of the city on and around Capitol Hill and the National Mall. Frequent stops are made during which the guides share a bit of history, unique facts and practical touring tips. Sites include the Capitol Building, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, several of the Smithsonian Museums, the Washington Monument, the war memorials, and the Lincoln Memorial.

Daily secure bicycle parking for non-members of the Bikestation can be purchased through Bike and Roll Washington DC. Monthly and annual memberships for 24-hour access to secure bike parking are available through Bikestation (www.bikestation.com). The facility also provides lockers and changing rooms.

Bike and Roll Washington DC will offer full bike maintenance and service to both members and non-members of the Bikestation. Professional mechanics will perform all manners of service from a basic tune-up or flat repair to a full overhaul.

Retail items such as locks, gloves, tubes, fenders, lights, bike computers, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.
